Material forming laboratory was established in 2000. In this laboratory, the main work that is done is the roll forming of metallic and non-metallic sections. Other research has been done based on students' interest on laser forming processes, hydroforming and composite materials. The most specialized work that the laboratory is famous for is roll forming of metals. This laboratory has a good relationship with industries and is a member of the Iran Steel Pipe and Profile Syndicate, and joint research and training courses have been conducted with this syndicate and its subsidiaries.

More than 60 master's students and 15 PhD students graduated, including international students from Syria. More than 150 scientific research articles and the same number of conference articles have been presented. Two roll forming machines have been manufactured by the laboratory, the first machine is in Isfahan. The construction of a flexible roller forming machine, which has been done for the first time in the Islamic Republic of Iran, and almost only a few countries in the world have the technology to manufacture this type of machine. This device is capable of producing profiles with variable cross-sections for different applications. Several researches have been done regarding slotted profiles, prediction of Ductile failure in roll forming process and profiles with composite materials.
